On 1/22/2026 at about 0645 hours, Saint Paul Police took a Motor Vehicle Theft Report at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul, Ramsey County. The vehicle’s owner, SAB, said that overnight someone stole his 2021 Honda Ridgeline (MN/GUF896) that had been parked there. The value of the vehicle exceeded $5,000. On 01/26/2026 at about 0110 hours, Roseville Police spotted the stolen Honda parked at [ADDRESS REDACTED] (HarMar Mall) in Roseville, Ramsey County. When Police blocked the vehicle in, the driver later identified as Trevor HOPPES-JONES [DOB REDACTED], immediately began reaching around inside the vehicle.
HOPPES-JONES exited the vehicle and was detained. On the ground near HOPPES-JONES was an assortment of drug paraphernalia and a white rubber container that appeared to have fallen out of the vehicle when he exited. The key for the stolen vehicle was clipped to HOPPES-JONES’ pants belt loop. During a search incident to arrest, Officers found drug paraphernalia on his person. Inside the white rubber container, Police found suspected narcotics, which later field tested positive for Fentanyl with a net weight of.06g. During a post-Miranda interview, HOPPES-JONES said that about two nights ago he was checking car door handles near Rice Street and Dale Street in a St. Paul looking for things to steal.
When he pulled the handle to the stolen vehicle, he saw the vehicle’s key inside. He decided to steal the vehicle and knew hid did not have the owner’s consent to take it. He said the substance in his white rubber container was Fentanyl.
