The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On the afternoon of September 8, 2025, St. Paul Police responded to Clarence St. And Maryland Ave. E. On reports of shots fired. While witnesses were being interviewed, surveillance video was recovered. It showed multiple people gathered around a Hyundai Sante Fe Sport, during which an argument occurred and several apparent firearms were brandished (CN 25-164565). The following afternoon (September 9), officers located the Santa Fe in the area of Forest and Wells Sts., St. Paul, Ramsey County.
The driver was identified as the defendant, RICKEY LARON CLAYTON ([DOB REDACTED]). On the front passenger seat of the Sante Fe was a satchel. The defendant said that it belonged to him and contained his medication. Officers explained to the defendant the reason for the traffic stop. He gave consent to search the vehicle. In a pocket of the defendant’s satchel, officers found a baggie containing a white powder. It was recovered. The defendant denied knowledge or ownership of the baggie. In a presumptive test, the substance contained in the baggie tested positive for the presence of both cocaine and methamphetamine, with a total net weight of 5.5 grams.
