On 10/14/2025, at approximately 9:07 P.M., law enforcement was dispatched to a report about a domestic abuse in progress at a residence located on the 2600 block of 16th Avenue South, City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Upon arrival, law enforcement met with a minor female, Victim herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] called her brother a disparaging name and as a result, her father, identified as DAVID FRANCE WEAVER ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein, became angry and pushed her, causing her to fall.
Victim stated that Defendant then stood over, made a fist, and threatened to punch her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] told her that he would beat her and did not care if he went to jail. Victim was able to get up. She then sprayed water in Defendant’s direction and threw a water bottle at him. Victim stated she walked away and Defendant followed her. Victim further reported that Defendant took a firearm that he stored in the bedroom and left the residence. Victim further reported that she previously saw Defendant place the firearm on top of the kitchen cabinets.
Law enforcement looked on top of the kitchen and located a handgun. Law enforcement retrieved the firearm and it was processed. The firearm was identified as a Phoenix 22 long rifle handgun. Defendant is prohibited from possessing firearms/ammo due to prior conviction for crimes of violence: 27- CR-24-22223: Assault-3rd Degree-Substantial Bodily Harm – Conviction Date: 04-15-2025. This prior conviction was Minn. Stat. 609.227 and occurred within the past five years. Defendant is not in custody. The State is requesting a warrant because Defendant is prohibited from possessing a firearm and was in possession of firearm approximately six (6) months following a conviction the prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
