Nicholas John Kuzma

All of the conduct described herein occurred within the County of St. Louis, State of Minnesota, unless otherwise noted. On November 3, 2025, at approximately 2:30 P.M., Trooper Peterson of the Minnesota State Patrol was stationary on Highway 169 within the City of Hibbing, County of St. Louis. Trooper Peterson observed the driver of a pickup truck with a cell phone in his hand. Trooper Peterson initiated a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as Nicholas John Kuzma, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.

Defendant admitted to using his phone, stating that he was in an argument with a romantic partner. Defendant also told Trooper Peterson that he was supposed to have ignition interlock, but that this vehicle was not equipped with ignition interlock. Defendant stated that he was borrowing a friend’s truck because Defendant’s vehicle was in the shop for repairs. A review of Defendant’s driver’s license status shows that he is required to have an ignition interlock device installed in any vehicle he is operating.
