On May 20, 2026, around 1106 hours, officers were dispatched to an assault involving a weapon at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Dispatched advised that the Victim had returned to his own home nearby where officers met with him. According to the Victim, he is a handyman who was performing work at a long-time client’s house, Witness 1. Defendant rents a room at Witness 1’s house and the Victim has known him for approximately one year. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had a recent disagreement over money.
That day, after finishing up the work at Witness 1’s house, Witness 1 asked that Victim [NAME REDACTED]. The Victim said he approached the Defendant in the kitchen area and attempted to shake hands. He said Defendant began yelling at him and they began arguing. The Victim admitted to telling Defendant he would “kick his ass.” The Defendant then pulled a black handgun from his waist band and pointed it at him and threatened to kill him. Defendant then punched Victim and he fell to the ground. Defendant then kicked him in the face and pointed the gun at his head.
The Victim described being able to see down the barrel of the gun. The Victim begged Defendant not to shoot him and pleaded for his life. Defendant lowered the gun and the Victim left. The Victim said Witness 1 was present for the entire incident. After speaking to the Victim, investigators returned to the home on Old Shakopee Road. They spoke to Witness 1. According to Witness 1, she was present during the assault and witnessed Defendant point a black handgun at the Victim [NAME REDACTED]. She confirmed that the Victim [NAME REDACTED] who assists with work around the home.
She said that the Victim and Defendant exchanged some words in the kitchen and then Defendant pushed the Victim to the ground and kicked him 3-4 times in the face. She said the Defendant then pulled out a black handgun and pointed it in the Victim’s face. After a 20-minute stand off on the phone with Defendant, he came out of the house and was arrested. Investigators then executed a search warrant on the residence. In the basement, investigators located two black handguns. One of the guns was registered to Witness 2. Investigators spoke to Witness 2, and he said he sold the gun to Defendant in May 2025. In a post-Miranda statement, Defendant acknowledged having a conversation with the Victim to “make amends” about a past feud.
Defendant said Victim threatened to “whip (his) white ass” and shoved him into a wall. Defendant said he then turned around and “the threat was terminated.” Defendant is in custody.
