Your Complainant is an Officer with the Owatonna Police Department. Investigation has revealed that on May 12th, 2025, at 5:32 PM, Officer Selvik was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center Lobby at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Owatonna, MN, County of Steele, regarding a past identity theft incident. The reporting party's social security number was used to obtain a credit card. Officer Selvik contacted the reporting party, D. S. D. S. Stated that his identity had been stolen. D. S. Stated that his stepdaughter, Kimberly Ann Watson [DOB REDACTED], is the person who stole his identity.
D. S. Noted that his other daughter looked into this matter and determined that more than one fraudulent credit card had been opened by Watson. D. S. Stated that there are a total of six credit cards that were opened fraudulently in either his name or his wife's name. T. S. D. S. Has the credit card statements from Bank of America and Capital One. Bank of America: - The Bank of America credit card is listed to D. S. - The address is listed as 60 18th PL NE (which is not the correct address; that address belongs to Watson). - During the credit card statement period from April 5th-May 4th, 2025 a total of $4,378.40 was spent. - Total spent during the two credit card statement periods a total of $10,842.23 was spent.
Capital One: -The Capital One credit card is listed to T. S. - The address is listed as 60 18th PL NE (which is not the correct address; that address belongs to Watson). - During the credit card statement period from May 4th-June 3rd, 2024 a total of $1,681.30 was spent. - During the credit card statement period from June 4th-July3rd, 2024 a total of $3,692.36 was spent. - During the credit card statement period from July 4th-August3rd, 2024 a total of $1,353.99 was spent. - There was also a cash advance of $600.00. - During the credit card statement period from August 4th-September 3rd, 2024, a total of $491.00 was spent.
Officer Selvik obtained the following statement from D. S.: "She knows my social security number. She knows my wife's social security number. She helps us with our taxes, our Medicare, and our medical stuff. That is why she knows our social security numbers. She helps us out quite a bit with stuff like that. My 2 74-CR-26-19 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/5/2026 grandson noticed that Watson was receiving mail addressed to me. The mail was addressed to me, but had Watson's address on it (60 18th PL NE). My grandson wasn't sure why that was happening.
He thought it was weird that Watson was getting my mail. When I was over at Watson's house, I noticed the mail also. I noticed that Watson had received mail with my name on it but her address. I then checked the mail. It was a Bank of America bank statement. The Bank of America bank statement was addressed to me with Watson's address. I then noticed the Bank of America credit card as well. It was on the counter at Watson's house. The Bank of America credit card was in my name. The name on it stated D. S. Between the two months, the total balance was $10,507. She is my stepdaughter.
