On October 20, 2025, Brooklyn Park Police officers responded to a burglary report that occurred on October 18, 2025, at a house located on the 6000 block of 67th Way North in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party, a fully identified female, Victim herein, told officers that her former friend JESTINA BROWNELL [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, who she knew as Jessica Brownell, came to her house at approximately midnight, went inside while Victim [NAME REDACTED], and stole her iPhone.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was upset with Victim because she saw a video of Victim “messing with one of her friend’s boyfriends.” Victim stated that her boyfriend left the house earlier and left the front door unlocked, but the door was closed. Victim checked the location of her phone on her iPad, and it showed that it was at 4507 71st Avenue North in Brooklyn Center. Victim recognized this address as Defendant’s. Victim and Defendant friendship ended sometime in July of 2025. On October 19, 2025, another friend of Victim [NAME REDACTED] at a night club and recorded Defendant stating that she went to Victim’s home to assault Victim.
But when she observed Victim [NAME REDACTED], she instead took Victim’s phone. Victim received the recording and forwarded it to the officers. Officers also listened to the recording and could make out similar statement by a female admitting to taking a phone. Officers located Defendant’s phone number and spoke with her. Defendant confirmed that Victim’s phone was with her, and she took it that night after realizing Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant came to Victim’s house to assault her for statements Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant stated she knew it was a crime to take someone’s property, but she did not care.
