On March 19, 2026, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. This was in response to a 911 call reporting a shooting and ShotSpotter activation in the area. Upon arrival, officers encountered M. J. (herein Victim 1), who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head that was actively bleeding. Victim was conscious and able to speak with officers. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he was determined to have suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
Police spoke with S. A. (herein Victim 2), who indicated that he was friends with Victim 1 and that they were at the house together when two men entered the home and got into an argument with Victim 1. One man produced a firearm and shot Victim 1 one time in the head. The other man grabbed a knife and held it up. The man with the gun then demanded that Victim 2 lay on the ground. He then took Victim 2’s cell phone from him. The two men then left the area. About 45 seconds after the men left the house, Victim 2 heard several more gunshots and saw bullet holes in the wall of the home.
Crime lab personnel responded to the scene and processed it for evidence. One discharged cartridge casing (DCC) was found inside the house on the kitchen table and nine DCCs were found in the street in the middle of the intersection outside of the home. The residence itself was found to have numerous bullet holes in it. Police were able to speak with Victim 1, who stated that he knew the man that shot him. The man who shot him was known to Victim as “Andy,” and the man who grabbed the knife is known as “Aldo.” Victim 1 said that while he, Victim 2, Andy, and Aldo were sitting around the living room table, Andy became upset at Victim 1 over some money that Victim 1 owed him.
Andy then took out a gun and struck Victim 1 with it in the back of the head. At the same time that he struck him, the gun went off. Andy and Aldo then fled the house. Both Victims described Andy as being a Hispanic male around 5’4’’ or 5’5’’ and skinny with a tattoo on his arm that says, “Loyalty over Love.” Investigators were able to obtain a picture of a person believed to be Andy from law enforcement sources. That picture was sent to Victim 1, who confirmed that that was the man who shot him.
The man in the photo was known to live at a specific address in Bloomington, Minnesota. Investigators were able to identify the man as ANDERSON ESAU RAUDA CASTELLANOS; [DOB REDACTED] (herein Defendant). The Defendant was arrested at his known address, and his cellphone was taken as evidence. The Defendant is currently in custody.
