On September 23, 2025, Victim contacted law enforcement to report an incident that had occurred on September 22, 2025. She indicated that while at the Super 8 motel in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota, she was assaulted by GRANVILLE BOONE PAYNE JR, the Defendant. She stated Defendant was her boyfriend of two years and that he has been physically abusive to her many times including hitting her and breaking her tooth. On Saturday night Defendant was trying to take her keys, and he began to hit her and strangled her.
She stated as he choked her, she started to "go black and see stars" (indicating lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain being impeded). She also stated that she gasped for breath after he released his grip. Officers were able to go to the motel and retrieve video which showed precisely what Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Video showed Victim standing by the vehicle when Defendant placed two hands on her neck and pinned her to the vehicle for about five seconds. Defendant then strikes Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the head.
A warrant is requested based on the seriousness of the incident in addition to past violence reported.
