On or about March 5, 2026, Brookyln Center Police were dispatched to an apartment located in the 3400 block of 53rd Avenue North in Brooklyn Center in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers arrived and spoke with the reporting party a known adult female, Victim herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on March 4, 2025 at approximately 10:15 PM, her boyfriend, TREVON DEMETRIUS PRINCE [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, assaulted her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in a romantic relationship with Defendant. Victim [NAME REDACTED] into a verbal argument as she was speaking with another man which upset Defendant.
Victim told Defendant to leave the apartment. Defendant left and then reentered the apartment to collect his things. While in the bedroom collecting clothing out of the closet, Defendant used a closed fist and used his right hand to punch Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] onto the bed. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was trying to leave the apartment. Defendant stopped her from leaving by using his hands to grab her biceps. Victim began screaming and yelling for him to let her go. Defendant then grabbed Victim [NAME REDACTED] one hand and dragged her to the hallway and into the living room.
In the living room, Defendant pushed Victim onto the couch and used both his hands to grab and hold her throat. Defendant squeezed Victim’s throat to the point she could not breath and she thought she was going to die. While Defendant was strangling Victim [NAME REDACTED] told Victim: “don’t play with me” and “I don’t care who you call.” When Defendant stopped choking her, he collected his belongings and Victim [NAME REDACTED] went to her vehicle where she stayed until Defendant left the area. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on March 5, 2025, she received text messages from Defendant stating that she needed to send him $1200 or else he was going to dump her dog’s ashes down the sewer drain.
Officers observed bruising on Victim’s right arm in the bicep area along with a small cut on Victim’s left cheek. Victim stated the small cut came from him punching her and her glasses digging into her cheek. Officers also observed bruising o her left and right side of her throat which appeared in officers training and experience to be consistent with being choked. Defendant has two prior qualified domestic violence related convictions within the past ten years which include: June 9, 2018 conviction for Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in Case File No. 19AV-CR-17-14715. September 21, 2020 conviction for 3rd Degree Assault and 5th Degree Assault in Case File No. 27-CR- 20-5927. Defendant is not in custody.
Due to serious concerns for Victim’s safety the State requests that this Complaint issue as a warrant.
