At 9:12 PM on December 4, 2025, officers were sent to the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a shooting. Multiple callers reported hearing a gunshot, and they reported a person had been shot and was not moving. Officers located MDT [DOB REDACTED] lying on his chest in the street. Officers found MDT had a single gunshot wound to his back. MDT did not have a pulse. Officers provided MDT medical attention until medics arrived and took over. Medics pronounced MDT dead on their way to the hospital.
Officers learned that MDT lived close to where his body was found at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East. Officers found a single 9mm spent casing with a CBC 9mm LUGER headstamp several feet from where MDT was found. Officers recovered a winter hat from beneath MDT’s body. Another winter hat was found several feet away from where MDT’s body was found. Several witnesses reported a newer SUV driving around the neighborhood before the shooting. Investigators searched license plate reader data for the area of the crime scene to try and identify the vehicle.
Investigators located the Minnesota blackout license plate [PLATE REDACTED] on Edgerton Street just north of York Ave at approximately 8:16 PM on December 4, 2025. The license plate [PLATE REDACTED] registers to a 2018 Black GMC Yukon with tinted windows registered to RR. RR is in the process of divorcing RYSHAUN CA’MIA RHODES [DOB REDACTED]. Investigators learned that Ryshaun had been stopped in 4SHIZLE as recently as October 2025. Investigators spoke to MDT’s girlfriend, DM, who was inside [ADDRESS REDACTED] East when the incident occurred.
DM arrived at around 8:30 PM, and MDT asked her for a ride to the tobacco store. When they went out to DM’s, MDT saw a large black SUV with tinted windows pull up on Edgerton Street. MDT’s phone rang. MDT said something like, “She is here. I have to go grab something from her.” MDT walked over to the black SUV while DM waited in her own vehicle. MDT returned to DM’s vehicle carrying a small package that she thought was drugs. DM and MDT drove to the tobacco store and then returned to [ADDRESS REDACTED] East.
When they returned home MDT’s phone rang constantly with an unusual ringtone. MDT told DM to lock their bedroom door after he left. DM stayed inside and did not see or hear anything until she went outside to check, and she found that the police on scene providing medical attention to MDT. DM did not know who MDT went outside to meet or anyone who would wish him harm. Investigators collected MDT’s cell phone from his residence. MDT had left the phone inside when he left. Investigators conducted a forensic examination of MDT’s cell phone.
Investigators extracted the contents of MDT’s cell phone including a series of calls from Facebook and Snapchat that occurred during the hours before his death.
