On September 9, 2025, at approximately 10:00 P.M., officers responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED]., Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota, for the report of a purse taken from a parked vehicle. AB had parked her car inside the private garage at her apartment building with her purse inside at about 8:00 P.M., She then received a call from her credit card company indicating there was an attempted purchase at Target at about 9:00 P.M. Subsequent investigation and surveillance footage show Mohamed Abdirzak Jama, hereafter defendant, enter the garage wearing all black and a distinct black jacket and approach AB's car.

Defendant is then seen exiting the area of the car with a white purse and leaving the garage. Approximately thirty minutes later, the defendant is seen on video wearing the same clothing and entering the Target in Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota and proceeding to the electronics section. He then tries to purchase electronics with a value of approximately $596 using the cards of AB but the purchases are declined. Law enforcement has significant previous interactions with defendant and were able to identify him based on those prior interactions and the surveillance footage from the apartment complex and Target.

The State is asking the Court to issue a summons for the defendant to appear in Court.
