On March 4, 2026, officers with the Brooklyn Park Police Department obtained a search warrant (“the Warrant”) to search a residence (“the Residence”) located in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, and a shed (“the Shed”). The Warrant was executed that same day. Officers arrived at the Residence and spoke to a female (“the Female”). The Female stated that her son, Jared Lawrence Lynch [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”), spends most of his time in the basement and the Shed. Officers located, in the basement, a partial box of 9mm handgun ammunition.
Officers then approached the Shed. Officers found that the Shed had a padlock. The Female seemed unaware of the padlock or the whereabouts of a corresponding key. Officers entered the Shed and found that it had been converted to a living quarters. Inside of the Shed was a sealed envelope addressed to Defendant. Officers also found a Ruger SR9 handgun as well as a fat-tire style bike that was found to be stolen. Defendant was subsequently arrested, provided his Miranda statement, and agreed to speak with officers.
Defendant told officers that he bought the gun a few days prior from a friend of his. Defendant has previously been adjudicated delinquent of a crime of violence based on 27-J7-02-058879. Defendant has also been previously convicted of prohibited person in possession of a firearm in violation of Minn. Stat. § 624.713, subd. 1(2) (2011) based on 27-CR-11-31776. Therefore, significant bail is requested to ensure public safety and Defendant’s appearance in court proceedings.
