On January 30, 2026, around 9:18 A.M., law enforcement was dispatched to apartments located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Andover, Anoka County, on a report of a stolen vehicle, a gray 2021 Nissan Rogue (MN/SHE143), at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers located the stolen vehicle with its engine running but unoccupied in the parking lot in front of an apartment unit. Law enforcement located Tyquis Jahaad Watkins [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, in the apartment unit the vehicle had been parked in front of hiding in the bathtub.
The girlfriend of the resident of the apartment unit, N. H., told law enforcement that defendant gave her a ride to the apartment. She also stated the Minneapolis Police Department tried to stop the vehicle on the way to her apartment, but defendant fled them going over 100 miles per hour. At the time of the recovery of the vehicle, the right rear driver side window was broken out and there was a towel covering the broken window. Defendant was arrested. In a post-Miranda statement, defendant repeatedly told officers that it was not his vehicle.
The registered owner of the vehicle is M. R., who reported it stolen out of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, on January 29, 2026, around 8:13 A.M. She did not give defendant permission to take her vehicle. At the time of the theft, M. R.’s key fob was not in the vehicle, and she reported she saw two males take the vehicle.
