On March 9, 2026, Minneapolis officers were dispatched to a physical fight at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County. On arrival, officers spoke with Victim 1, who reported that his ex-Girlfriend, Victim 2, had come over and they started arguing. During that argument, Victim 1's mother and her boyfriend, later identified as DEVON LAMAR COLE, Defendant, wanted Victim 1 and Victim 2 to leave. Victim 2 started arguing with Victim 1's mother. During that argument, Defendant stepped in and started shoving Victim 2. Then Defendant punched Victim 2 in the face, causing an injured lip.
Officers documented the injury. After initially leaving the house with Victim 2, Victim 1 reentered the home to get his phone. He and his mother started arguing and shoving each other, and then Defendant once again stepped in. Defendant said to him, "Think you're strong." Defendant started strangling Victim 1, causing him to be unable to breathe. Victim 1's mother helped break Defendant's grip and then officers arrived. Victim 1 resides with his mother and Defendant at the Upton address. Defendant is in custody.
