On October 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 P.M., A. Y.'s wallet and other property were stolen from his parked vehicle in Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Contained in that wallet were multiple credit cards belonging to A. Y., ending in #1610 and #7697. An hour later, Mohamed Abdirizak Jama, hereafter defendant, used A. Y.'s credit card ending in #1610 at the Target in Crystal, Hennepin County, Minnesota, to purchase gift cards in the amount of $110. Defendant then attempted to use A. Y.'s credit card ending in #7697 to purchase other gift cards with a value of $271. The store declined the second attempted purchase.

Target kept financial records of the purchases. The transactions were captured on store surveillance. The defendant was identified based on the surveillance on this date and his frequent prior contacts with law enforcement.
