On March 9, 2026, Deputy Gengler was informed that Scott Mario Palermo, [DOB REDACTED] was incarcerated in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center pursuant to an active warrant from Polk County, Iowa. Deputy Gengler contacted the Polk County, Iowa Sheriff's Office to confirm the warrant and their intent to extradite Scott Mario Palermo from the State of Minnesota. Deputy Gengler requested and received a copy of the warrant issued from the State of Iowa, Polk County Court for criminal case number FECR384909 signed by Clerk of Courts Designee Cheri M. Reif dated July 2, 2025 charging Scott Mario Palermo with the following offenses: 1) Harboring a Runaway, in violation of 710.8(2); 2) Sex Abuse 3rd–Child Victim–Person 4 or More Years Older, 1st Off, in violation of 709.4(1)(b)(2)(d); 3) Sex Abuse 3rd–Child Victim–Person 4 or More Years Older, 1st Off, in violation of 709.4(1)(b)(2)(d); and 4) Sex Abuse 3rd–Child Victim–Person 4 or More Years Older, 1st Off, in violation of 709.4(1)(b)(2)(d). On March 9, 2026 Deputy Gengler conducted an extradition interview with Scott Mario Palermo at the Adult Detention Center.
Scott Mario Palermo verbally identified himself and stated he was aware of the warrant from the State of Iowa. Complainant has reasonable grounds to believe that Scott Mario Palermo, who is currently in the custody of the Olmsted County Sheriff, is the person described in the documents received from the State of Iowa and is a fugitive from justice. The said Scott Mario Palermo should be brought before the Olmsted County District Court so that he may be advised of his rights and a determination be made whether or not he waives extradition to the State of Iowa or whether he contests and demands a hearing relative to the right of the State of Iowa to return him to the State of Iowa.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
