On 01/29/2026, at approximately 2005 hours, St. Paul police responded to a report of a 911 hangup call at the Listening House (421 7th St. E.) in St. Paul, Ramsey County. Upon arrival, the Officer was approached by Lakeisha Patrice KING ([DOB REDACTED]) who pointed at a male inside the Listening House. The Officer was then approached by MBJ who is the Executive Director at the Listening House. MBJ said KING had damaged the Listening House front door. The Officer saw that the glass in the front entrance door was smashed.
MBJ said KING came to the Listening House, said she had just been released from jail, and then got into a physical confrontation with another person there. Staff escorted KING from the building. KING then took a glass bottle and threw it at the front door, shattering the door glass. MBJ estimated the cost to repair the door at $2,000. KING was taken into custody. In the squad, KING repeatedly kicked the interior of the squad’s door, hit her head on the squad window, and was uncooperative. In a post-Miranda interview, KING said she had fought with a man outside the Listening House who stole her purse.
KING said she threw a wine bottle at the man as he ran into the Listening House and the bottle broke the glass. When asked why she broke the window, KING said “it was an accident.” CCTV footage confirmed MBJ’s account of events and did not show a man running into the Listening House before KING threw the bottle.
