On or about August 23, 2025, Burnsville police responded to a carjacking located in Burnsville. The vehicle stolen was a Kia Soul with Minnesota license plates SJT418. Through investigation, Burnsville police were able to learn the vehicle was observed on surveillance at the BP gas station located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. At that time, a lone man got out of the driver seat and paid for gas. The driver, then puts gas in the vehicle and leaves. This was only a few hours after the carjacking took place.
Through investigation this person was identified as DANIEL JONATHAN WHITEBULL [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Burnsville police interviewed Defendant at the Hennepin County Jail and in a post Miranda statement, Defendant confirmed he was the person in surveillance and that he bought the car for $50 to go joyriding. Defendant confirmed he drove the vehicle to the place where it was eventually found later in Richfield. Defendant stated he got the car from a person in a ski mask and believed he thought he knew the person.
Defendant was not completely forthcoming in his interview with police and appeared to know more about the carjacking itself but would not provide details. Defendant is currently in custody at this time at the Hennepin County Jail on unrelated charges involving carjacking charges in ••-CR-••-••••. At this time, the State requests a warrant issue for Defendant.
