EFRAIN ALMESTICA, [DOB REDACTED], has a lengthy criminal history to include the following convictions. ••-CR-••-••••, Burglary Second Degree, conviction 12/16/2021 ••-CR-••-••••, Burglary 1st Degree, conviction 12/16/2021 ••-CR-••-••••, 10 counts of Burglary 1st Degree, 1 count of Burglary 2nd Degree, conviction 5/2/2023 Assistant Manager LG (hereinafter LG), Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1595 Highway 36 West, Roseville, County of Ramsey, reported an adult male entered the store at approximately 3:00 P.M. On October 2, 2025. While in the store, the male selected merchandise, total value $929.98, and left the store with the items in his hands and without paying for them.
The male fled the scene in a red Toyota Prius, MN license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. LG gave Officer Cook a photograph of the suspect. License plate database reviewed by Officer Cook showed a red Toyota Prius, license plate [PLATE REDACTED], entered Rosedale Center Property at 2:56 P.M. On October 2, 2026. License plate database also showed that the license plate [PLATE REDACTED] was displayed on a gray Toyota Prius on October 2, 2025 at 4:42 P.M. License plate [PLATE REDACTED] registered to SB to a gray 2013 Toyota Prius.
When contacted, SB told Officer Cook the front license plate on his gray Toyota Prius was stolen approximately three days prior. An alert was entered on the red Toyota Prius, license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. On October 4, 2025, Coon Rapids Officers located the red Toyota Prius, unoccupied, at Riverdale Boulevard NW and Main Street, Coon Rapids. The red Toyota Prius was a reported stolen vehicle out of Minneapolis. Officers drove away from the red Toyota Prius, but maintained surveillance. Some time after, Coon Rapids Police received a call that two people were attempting to steal items at LOI store.
The two people ran out of the store and toward the red Toyota Prius as officers responded. One suspect, Al-Hameed, dropped the stolen merchandise outside the red Toyota Prius, and entered the vehicle. A male-later identified as ALMESTICA, entered the driver’s seat of the red Toyota Prius. Officers ordered ALMESTICA out of the vehicle. ALMESTICA exited the vehicle and tried to run away, but was taken to the ground and arrested. Officer Cook was provided a photograph of ALMESTICA’s arrest in Coon Rapids.
Officer Cook compared the image to the suspect image of the theft at Dick’s Sporting Good on October 2nd, and identified ALMESTICA as the suspect. ALMESTICA is presently in custody at MCF-Lino Lakes.
