Body camera footage shows that at the time law enforcement arrived on scene, Defendant was wearing a Deadpool hooded sweatshirt, but that he removed it and provided it to his sister. Though Defendant was initially detained with other individuals at the apartment complex, he was released with other individuals and left the property as his involvement had not yet been determined, based on the later witness’s statement. After identifying Defendant as the potential shooter, officers requested Defendant come to the police station to provide a statement.
Defendant arrived at the police station at approximately 1:30 PM. Defendant was read the Miranda warning and agreed to speak with officers and provided the following statement: Defendant’s Second Statement to Law Enforcement Defendant stated that he was out with his sister the previous night. He explained that they went to Mike’s Pub at around 9 PM. Defendant stated that they were there for some time, before eventually heading to an afterparty at the Meadowview Apartments. Defendant described himself as intoxicated at some point but stated that he had sobered up quickly with the scary situation.
According to Defendant, when officers arrived on scene he had just gone outside to get his sister’s vape from his vehicle. When asked if he heard anything, Defendant stated he did. Defendant explained that earlier, he left the residence to grab his whiskey from his car. While outside the residence, Defendant said he heard a couple pops and walked back inside because he did not “like that kind of energy.
