On December 12, 2025, Bloomington Police Department Officers were dispatched on report of a theft to the Sunglasses Hut inside the Mall of America, located at 296 West Market in Bloomington, Hennepin County. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party "Witness" herein. Witness reported that a male suspect entered the sunglasses hut, grabbed sunglasses and then exited the store after passing all points of sale without attempting to pay. As the male suspect exited the Sunglasses Hut, Mall of America Security made contact with the male suspect.
Mall of America security immediately recognized the male suspect, as he was currently on the trespass list expiring 7/25/2026. Mall Of America security detained the male suspect. The male suspect was identified as VICTOR NASHAUN WILLIAMS [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein. Defendant was carrying a silver Apple laptop. Inside of the laptop were several University of Minnesota stickers. Defendant told officers he had never been to college. Defendant also told officers he does not support any college teams.
Upon further investigation, officers learned the laptop belonged to a known adult, "Victim" herein. Officers spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED] was stolen on December 11, 2025, from the University of Minnesota campus. Victim confirmed the serial number of the laptop. University of Minnesota Dispatch confirmed the laptop was reported stolen. The value of the sunglasses is $384.00. The value of the Apple laptop is $1499.00. Defendant has a prior Felony Third-Degree Burglary conviction from Hennepin County in Court Case File Number ••-CR-••-••••. The State requests this complaint be issued as a warrant because is the Defendant is in custody.
