On January 6, 2026, officers responded to a disturbance call at [ADDRESS REDACTED], #XXX, in Richfield, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Call notes relayed that the caller’s neighbor (“Victim”) had come to the caller’s apartment to report that her husband had strangled her. In addition, officers received information from a separate call from Victim’s mother about Victim reporting an assault and threats from Victim’s husband. Upon arrival, officers met with Victim, [NAME REDACTED] in the neighbor’s apartment.
Officers saw clear marks/bruising on Victim’s neck that appeared to be the size of a hand and matched strangulation marks. Victim [NAME REDACTED], AARON ALVIN YOUNG, born on [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, had come to Victim’s apartment for dinner and had strangled her during an argument. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had taken her belongings and left the scene in a vehicle. Victim and Defendant are currently separated. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had consumed alcohol. At some point, Defendant became jealous and paranoid when he saw Victim texting on her phone and eventually grabbed Victim’s neck with his right hand and strangled her.
This pushed Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant repeated this process for a total of four separate acts of strangulation, each becoming more aggressive. Defendant demanded to know who Victim [NAME REDACTED] on her phone. During all four acts, Victim’s breathing was impeded, and she could not speak. About 90 minutes after the initial call, Officers located Defendant’s vehicle at 66th Street East and Bloomington Avenue South and performed a traffic stop. When officers told Defendant that he was under arrest for domestic strangulation, Defendant said, “I know,” and “we had sex.” In a post-Miranda statement, Defendant stated that he choked Victim [NAME REDACTED] once she stated that it was too aggressive.
Defendant confirmed that he and Victim [NAME REDACTED] who Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the phone. Defendant claimed to have only choked Victim during sex and to not have noticed any marks on her. Victim later underwent a SANE, which documented large areas of multiple injuries including bruising, abrasions, and petechiae to Victim’s neck and chin. Defendant is in custody.
