At around 1:30 AM on March 20, 2026, officers were sent to the intersection of Quincy Street and Woodale Drive, Mounds View Ramsey County on a Nissan Armada bearing Minnesota license plates LCZ852 that had crashed into a tree. Officers spoke to a semi driver who said the Armada blew through a stop sign at the intersection at a high rate of speed and crashed into the tree. Officers made contact with the Armada’s driver – TRENT ROBERT WILLIAMS [DOB REDACTED]. Williams was unconscious. An officer opened the driver’s door and asked Williams to put the Armada in park.
Williams was dazed and confused, and the officer had to put the Armada in park. Williams was extremely sweaty, his pupils were constricted, and his eyes were glossy. Officers saw a hypodermic needle on the floorboard. Officers asked Williams to step out of the Armada believing he was under the influence of a narcotic or intoxicating substance. Williams refused to get out of the car, and he asked what probable cause officers had. Officers escorted Williams from the Armada’s driver’s seat, and they searched the Armada before it was towed.
Officers recovered a methamphetamine bubble from the cup holder, a clear plastic bag with a powder rock substance from the center console, and a bag of a crystal substance from the center console. Officers found an open bottle of vodka in the Armada. Officers obtained a search warrant to collect a blood or urine sample from Williams. Williams refused to answer if he would comply with a blood draw. Williams’ behavior was considered a test refusal. While at the hospital, Williams said he had had a rough few days and felt himself getting tired while driving.
Williams made a turn and was going to pull over to sleep. The last thing he knew he was driving and then was face to face with police. The contents of one of the bags recovered from the center console tested positive for the presence of cocaine and weighed 2.99 grams. The contents of the other bag recovered from the center console tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and weighed 5.93 grams. Williams committed this offense while on a conditional release on felony VOCSL 5 charges in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-25-30492.
