On March 1, 2026, at approximately 3:52 PM, officers from the Columbia Heights Police Department were dispatched to Ratio apartments, located at [address omitted] NE, city of Columbia Heights, county of Anoka, Minnesota, regarding a robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with L. J. L., Victim herein, who reported that he was attempting to sell a green "Denim Tears" brand hoodie on Facebook Marketplace for $300, and had arranged to meet the buyer in the parking garage of the apartment complex. Victim was in his vehicle in the parking garage when the buyer informed Victim that he was outside.
Victim then let the suspect vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, into the garage, and the suspect vehicle parked in a parking space next to Victim's vehicle. The passenger of the Volkswagen Jetta, later identified as Corey Terrell Barnes, Jr. ([DOB redacted]), Defendant Barnes herein, got into the front passenger seat of Victim's vehicle. During the sales transaction for the hoodie, Defendant Barnes pulled out a Glock style handgun and put it to Victim's chest. Defendant Barnes then demanded Victim hand over all of this valuable items.
While the Victim was being held at gunpoint, the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, later identified as Patrell Jamal Young ([DOB redacted]), Defendant Young herein, approached Victim's vehicle, began removing items from Victim's vehicle, and placing the items into the Volkswagen Jetta. Victim reports that the following items were stolen from him: Green "Denim Tears" hoodie, iPhone 17 Pro, Diamond chain necklace with the letters "LEN" on it, Black/Yellow G-Shock Watch, Wallet containing Victim's driver's license, AMEX credit card, Bank of America credit and debit cards.
Victim also reported that when Defendant Barnes took his iPhone, he made Victim send Defendant Young $1,000 via CashApp. The State requests a body only complaint warrant in this matter and requests that the Defendant be held in custody until appropriate bail and conditions of release, to include no contact orders, be set pursuant to Minn. R. Crim. Pro 6.02, Subd. 1.
