At approximately, 11:21 P.M., on January 10, 2026, Fergus Fails Police Officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Fergus Falls, a location in Otter Tail County, regarding a report of a stabbing. Sergeant Lucas Delaney and Officer Alex Matter arrived on scene. Officers observed what appeared to be movement in the detached garage. Officers knocked and were met by Alexander Sian-Gonzalez, the above-named defendant. The defendant was unsteady on his feet and appeared intoxicated. Officer Matter observed what appeared to be a pair of scissors in the defendant's pocket.
The defendant was immediately placed under arrest. There was no one else in the garage. Sergeant Delaney proceeded to the residence and made contact with Alexander Nelson. Nelson had blood on his shirt, pants and hands. Nelson led law enforcement into the residence towards the front of the house where law enforcement observed a male lying face down on the floor motioniess. The male was later identified as E. E. Law enforcement were able to determine that E. E. Was alive and awake. E. E. Appeared to have sustained multiple stab wounds to his back.
Law enforcement rendered aid until an ambulance arrived on scene and took over treatment. Law enforcement met with Nelson and Israel Guerrero. Nelson indicated that E. E. And the defendant were brothers-in-law Nelson, E. E. And the defendant reside in same residence. Nelson stated that the defendant was "winging it around, with the knife." The defendant had a knife and scissors and at one point, started stabbing the wall. Sergeant Delaney observed the wall that appeared to have multiple stab or puncture marks in the kitchen.
Nelson stated that the defendant yelled at E. E. About his friend. E. E. Had a conversation with the defendant then when he turned back the defendant stabbed E. E. In the back. Nelson was unsure what the underlying argument was about. Nelson called Guerrero who called law enforcement. Detective Estep later learned that Nelson tried to apply pressure to E. E.'s wounds to stop the bleeding. Eventually E. E. Collapsed from the injuries in the living room area. Detective Estep met with the defendant.
The defendant was read the Miranda warning and indicated he would speak with Detective Estep. The defendant indicated that the three men went out and had a burger and and had been drinking at a friends. The defendant stated at some point they had been arguing about "silly things." The defendant claimed that Nelson and E. E. Prevented him from entering the house. The defendant then went to the garage where he was later located by police. The defendant's story changed and stated that he had entered the house and E. E. And him got into a "struggle". The defendant stated he was protecting himself.
Officer Haken met with E. E. Who stated that the defendant stabbed him. The defendant had been drunk and E. E. Was trying to put him in his room. E. E. Stated that the defendant tried to start a fight with Neilson so he tried to put the defendant to bed. When he turned his back, the defendant stabbed him. E. E. Stated he was stabbed with a pair of scissors used for cutting hair. E. E. Had been transported to Lake Region Hospital and ultimately to Sanford in Fargo for treatment. The Lake Region doctor indicated that E. E. Had two posterior trauma wounds to the torso causing a hemothorax, bleeding between the ribs and lungs.
