On January 5, 2026, at approximately 1:50 A.M., officers with the Faribault Police Department responded to a wanted person call at an apartment on 3rd Street, Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. A KOPS alert out of Steele County had been issued for RODRIGO RAUL DELUNA JR. [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, for probable cause to arrest for a domestic abuse no contact order violation. Officers responded to the apartment and after some time, the defendant’s mother, S. S. C., opened the front door. S. S. C. Stated that defendant was at the residence.
Shortly after, the defendant appeared at the top of the staircase inside the vestibule. The officers entered and ascended the staircase. As Officer Vikla made contact with defendant, defendant turned around and pushed Officer Vikla. The defendant then punched Officer Vikla, striking him in the left temple and causing his glasses to fly off of his face. Officer Vikla sustained a visible red mark to the left side of his head and his injuries were photographed. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
