On October 22, 2025, Minneapolis Police responded to a suspicious vehicle report near 15th Avenue South and Lake Street East in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. While driving, officers LPR hit on a vehicle that stated the registered owner had felony warrants. The vehicle was a red GMC Arcadia (RNX844). As police neared the vehicle, they observed an individual in the vehicle, but the windows were tinted so they could not confirm the driver. As officers approached the vehicle and directed the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver then reached down by her feet.
The driver was then escorted from the car due to officer safety concerns. Officers identified the driver as ASHLEY LOUISE MITCHELL [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Officers confirmed Defendant's felony warrants for her arrest and searched her incident to arrest. During the search, a bag of suspected narcotics fell from her left front pocket onto the ground. Officers asked Defendant about the bag and Defendant confirmed it was hers. Officers then search her purse that was on Defendant's person and located additional suspected narcotics.
The narcotics later field tested positive for 3.31 grams and.05 grams of fentanyl. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
