On April 15, 2026, officers responded to the report of domestic abuse at an address in the 7200 block of Unity Avenue North in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers ended up speaking with Victim via phone as she fled the residence following the assault. The Victim reported that the father of her child, with whom she currently resides, just assaulted her in their home. She identified him as MALCOLM ISAAC JOHN BROWN ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein. The following day, the Victim came into the station to give a formal statement.
She said that around noon on April 15, 2026, Defendant got upset that she wanted to take an Uber to her dentist appointment. The Victim went into her 7-year-old daughter’s room, Minor Victim herein, and bent over in the closet retrieving items to take along. Defendant came into the room and yanked the back of her shirt, forcing her into an upright position. When the Victim questioned Defendant about his actions, he responded he did not like her tone. So, he punched her on the left side of her face with a closed fist.
Defendant then wrapped his right hand around her throat attempting to choke her, but she was able to fight him off. The Minor Victim then attempted to pull her father, Defendant, away from her mother by tugging on the back of his shirt. Defendant grabbed the Minor Victim and pushed her away. The Victim fled the residence with the Minor Victim following the assaults. The Victim noted a bruise to the Minor Victim’s upper arm that was not present before the assault. The bruise was also photographed by officers.
Police also took a statement from the Minor Victim. The Minor Victim reported that her father punched, choked, and slapped her mom multiples times the previous day and pushed her multiple times. She told officers he has done this multiple times in the past. The Minor Victim then drew officers a picture depicting the bruises she and her mother have received from Defendant. The Victim reported that Defendant abuses her frequently and was able to show officers photographs of various past injuries. She also showed officers an audio recording of an argument between the Minor Victim and Defendant where the Minor Victim is crying hysterically and asking Defendant to stop throwing things at her.
Defendant is heard using vulgar and disorderly language toward his daughter causing her to cry harder. When asked why she has not reported any of the previous incidents, Victim reported she is scared for her life. She said that late last year, Defendant told her if she ever goes to the police he will shoot her, shoot their daughter, get into a shootout with police, then kill himself. Defendant regularly reminds her he is not afraid to die. The Victim reported Defendant owns an AR style long barreled rifle and a Glock style pistol.
