On December 2, 2025, at approximately 0230 hours, Cottage Grove Police Department Officer LeMay was dispatched to Cub Foods in Cottage Grove, Washington County, Minnesota, for a report of a suicidal male driving a red Ford Focus. Upon his arrival in the area, Officer LeMay saw the suspect vehicle leave the Cub Foods parking lot at a high rate of speed on Jamaica Avenue South and take a left turn to drive west bound on 90th Street toward East Point Douglas Road. While following the vehicle on 90th Street, He observed the car driving at inconsistent speeds, and driving all over the road.
Officer LeMay activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the Country Inn and Suites hotel. He made contact with the driver and sole occupant, who was identified as DYLAN JAMES HART [DOB REDACTED]. Hart stated he took his friend's vehicle and went to see another friend, who was feeling suicidal at Cub Foods, to make sure he was okay. While speaking with Hart, Officer LeMay could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. He asked Hart if he had had anything to drink that night.
Hart initially said no, but then said he did drink a couple of hours earlier. Officer LeMay put him through a number of field sobriety tests, on which he performed poorly. Hart submitted to a preliminary breath test, which yielded a blood alcohol content result of.156. He was placed under arrest for DWI, and searched incident to arrest. On his person, Officer LeMay found a small plastic bag that contained a white, powdery substance, which appeared to be consistent with illegal narcotics. The substance later tested positive for cocaine and weighed.2 grams.
