On January 23, 2026 in Clay County, MN, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Z. Johnson and Sergeant S. Mork self-dispatched to a delayed report of a domestic assault that took place at [ADDRESS REDACTED] 34 in Georgetown, located in Clay County, MN. B. S., hereinafter the victim, reported that the day prior, on or about January 22, 2026, her life partner JOSHUA DAVID WAMBACH [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant, assaulted her during an argument. The Victim [NAME REDACTED] on January 22, 2026 some time around or after 7:00 PM, the Victim and Defendant began arguing about the Defendant's drinking and household chores.
The Victim [NAME REDACTED] one point during the argument, she walked out into the garage to separate herself from the situation. The Victim reported that the Defendant followed her into the garage, and threw something at her, though the Victim was not sure what and was not hit by the object. The Defendant then pushed the Victim, causing her to lose her balance and bruise her hand in an attempt to catch herself on a table. The Defendant then grabbed the Victim's arm and the back of her neck, and forced her down onto the table.
The Victim [NAME REDACTED] in this position for a period before she was shoved again and bumped her head on a waterer. The Victim reported she then shoved the Defendant in an attempt to get away from him, and the Defendant grabbed her neck from the front with both hands and stated "I want to f****** kill you" or "I'm going to f****** kill you". The Victim [NAME REDACTED] initially able to breath while this happened, but stated that toward the end she was only able to make noise. The Defendant eventually stopped after one of the children in the residence observed the interaction.
The Victim reported that the Defendant then gathered an item believed to be a firearm from the residence, and went outside. The Victim reported that she feared for her life during this interaction. The Defendant eventually returned to the residence. The Defendant was contacted about the incident, and identified the Victim as his fiancé. The Defendant stated that during the argument, the Victim [NAME REDACTED]. The Defendant further stated that the Victim [NAME REDACTED].
