The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On January 1, 2026, at about 1:50am, Ramsey County Emergency 911 received a call from a vehicle traveling on northbound White Bear Ave. N. From Interstate 94, St. Paul, Ramsey County. The caller said that her mother’s boyfriend had assaulted her and threatened to kill her, her mother, and the caller’s own boyfriend. She said that the family had now arrived at their home on Minnehaha Ave.
E., near White Bear Ave. St. Paul Police responded and met with the caller, LMR ([DOB REDACTED]); her mother, SER ([DOB REDACTED]); and LMR’s boyfriend, CCD ([DOB REDACTED]). LMR and SER live at the Minnehaha address with SER’s boyfriend, the defendant, MICHAEL DENNIS SCHINTGEN ([DOB REDACTED]). The three told officers that that night, they had gone to a club lounge in downtown Minneapolis with the defendant. They said that there, the defendant became physically aggressive with the two women. They said that the group took a taxi-van home.
They said that during the drive, the defendant continued to be aggressive, including punching LMR in the face; punching CCD (her boyfriend) and gouging at his eyes, when he attempted to intervene; and even attempting to assault the driver. The three continued that during the drive, the defendant also repeatedly threatened to shoot them. LMR added that the defendant said that he would cause a “blood bath” and asked whether she wanted him to “kill” her. SER added that that the defendant made a “gun-firing” motion with his hands.
CCD said that the defendant threatened that the defendant’s guns were “waiting” for them when they arrived home. All three said that they feared for their lives during the incident. LMR noted a recent incident during which she was on a video call with a friend. She said that the defendant did not like something that the friend had said, walked in view of the camera with a gun, and racked the slide. Officers observed and photographed injuries to LMR (bruising below her eye, fresh red spots on her neck, bruising on her hands, redness on her wrist, a ripped nail) and CCD (red marks and bruising to his face; marks on his cheek, chin, neck, and under his eye) from the assault.
The defendant was still inside of the home. Officers called into it, but the defendant refused to exit until his father eventually arrived and convinced him to do so. He was taken into custody. The home was searched pursuant to a warrant. A rifle, two pistols, and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered. Photographs were taken. In a follow up interview, LMR reiterated her statements at the scene, including confirming that the defendant had repeatedly said that he would shoot and kill everyone in the vehicle.
