Defendant admitted to buying Victim a promise ring and that Victim wanted to marry him and he has agreed to marry her. The wedding was going to be this fall. Defendant stated that he moved in to the apartment after meeting them (Victim and their mother) at the Mall of America. Defendant stated that he has "made out" with Victim [NAME REDACTED] did not go further than that. Any kissing, hugging, and touching was all consensual. Victim was the best thing that ever happened to him. Defendant did call Victim "bae" or "baby". Defendant acknowledged that Victim was constantly taking pregnancy test and one time she took 16 in a week.
Defendant talked about having kids with Victim and that he wants two kids and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant has a biological son who he does not see. Defendant wanted to have kids with Victim but wanted to wait until after marriage. If Victim [NAME REDACTED] would have been excited about that. Defendant admitted that one 3 10-CR-26-255 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/26/2026 of the reasons he was waiting to have sex with Victim [NAME REDACTED] is his sister. Defendant was 22 years old at the time of the sexual assault and Victim was 17 years old.
Under Minnesota law, neither mistake as to the complainant's age nor consent to the act by the complainant is a defense. Defendant is in custody at the Carver County Jail and is set for a First Appearance on March 27, 2026. The State requests a nationwide warrant to issue in the event that Defendant posts bail prior to addressing release conditions on this file. The State has significant victim safety as well as flight risk concerns considering the nature of the domestic assault and these sexual assault charges.
