On December 14, 2024, at approximately 9:15 P.M. An officer with the Metro Transit Police Department boarded a Light Rail Vehicle in the area of 5th Street S and 1st Ave N in Minneapolis, Hennepin Count. The officer saw two men positioned very close to each other and appeared what observed to be an exchange of a small item between the two men. The officer approached the two men and the one standing left the train but the other, later identified as DUANE TYLER KLOOZ, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, remained seated.
When the officer confronted Defendant, he saw Defendant clenching something in his hand and asked Defendant to show him, the Defendant the opened his hand the presented a small clear and red plastic baggie that contained a clear/white crystalline substance and a folded yellow sticky note. The officer informed Defendant he was under arrest and escorted Defendant off the train. Defendant had three bags in his immediate possession. Defendant then informed the officer he had ingested methamphetamine and fentanyl prior to being arrested and the officer began an ambulance for him.
The Defendant’s bags were searched, and officers located the following items: - 32.545 grams of suspected methamphetamine, later tested and confirmed by the BCA to contain methamphetamine. - 1.46 grams of suspected fentanyl inside a metal tin. - 0.18 grams of suspected fentanyl inside a green baggie. - 30 dosage units of 30mg Adderall; and, - 3 dosage units of 2mg Alprazolam. The small baggie initially recovered from Defendant was also examined and found to be: - 0.47 grams of suspected methamphetamine; and, - 0.45 grams of suspected fentanyl.
Inside Defendant’s bags officers also found an abundance of drug paraphernalia, scales, and small baggies and jars.
