On April 23, 2026, at approximately 2:33 AM, law enforcement observed a vehicle on I-35 near mile marker 159, which is in Chisago County, Minnesota. The vehicle was driving at a visually fast speed and was clocked at 83 MPH in a 70 MPH zone using a radar system. A traffic stop was performed on the interstate. Law enforcement approached the driver, and sole occupant, and identified him as ANAZARIO SOTELO LUCAS ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein. When law enforcement ran his information through their computer system, it showed that Defendant's driving status was revoked and he had several active felony warrants out of Ramsey County.
Defendant was arrested. An inventory search of the vehicle was performed. Under the driver's seat was a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. The handgun was loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. Between the passenger seat and the center console was a black container that contained two plastic baggies that contained a white crystal substance. A folded up dollar bill was found in the driver side visor that also contained a white powder substance. Law enforcement suspected that these substances were illegal narcotics.
The substance from each bag was field tested and showed the presence of methamphetamine. The substance from one bag weighed.39 grams, the other.62 grams, for a total of 1.01 grams. The substance in the dollar bill was not weighed given its small amount, but did field test positive for methamphetamine. Defendant is presently charged in court file ••-CR-••-••••, with multiple counts of burglary and a charge of domestic assault. On August 6, 2024, the court in that file issued a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order between Defendant and the protected party, his wife.
This DANCO disqualifies Defendant from possessing a firearm under United States Code, title 18, section 922(g)(8).
