On January 16, 2026, at approximately 2:15 A.M., Wright County Deputy Olufson was on routine patrol when he observed a black Mitsubishi Endeavor exit the Pancho Villa parking lot and pull onto SB Highway 25 NE in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota. As the vehicle accelerated, its exhaust was loud enough that it did not blend with the overall noise of the rest of the vehicle. A traffic stop was performed, and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Jodi Anderson. Dep. Olufson observed that her cheeks appeared sunken and her dental hygiene was poor.
Dep. Olufson further observed that the passenger, Adam Michael Bachand, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant, was consistently scratching his leg with his left pointer finger and was bouncing his leg throughout the conversation. Based on training and experience, he believed that the defendant had recently used a controlled substance. Dep. Olufson returned to his squad and found that the defendant had been arrested for possession of methamphetamine in April of 2025, and also that Jodi’s driving status was canceled.
Dep. Olufson asked the defendant to step out of the vehicle, while a partner spoke with Jodi. The defendant became increasingly nervous when the Deputy spoke to him about controlled substances in the vehicle. He denied recent use, claimed that he is clean, “goes to church, and gets drug tested.” The defendant initially denied possessing any controlled substances but eventually admitted that he had methamphetamine in the vehicle. The defendant stated that drugs were located in a red book on the back passenger seat.
Dep. Olufson searched the vehicle and located the book, which was hollowed out and contained an unlocked safe. Inside the safe, Dep. Olufson located a bubble pipe, toot straw, and two baggies containing a white crystal-like substance. The defendant later admitted that he bought the methamphetamine approximately one week ago and used approximately 8 hours prior. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed a total of 3.38 grams.
