On 05/24/2026 at approximately 1845 hours, St. Paul Police responded to 10 St E and Minnesota St in St. Paul, Ramsey County for a report of a fight in the middle of the street. Initially, callers described two females fighting and then a fight between a male and a female. Upon arrival, police found a male and female. The male, later identified as Byron Darnell OVERALL ([DOB REDACTED]), appeared aggravated. The female, identified as AB, was agitated and bleeding from her face. After being Mirandized, OVERALL said he had been dating his “fake baby momma” (AB) for several years.
He said AB had been fighting with his sister in the park. When his sister went inside, AB attacked him, hit him several times in the face and head, took his phone and smashed it. When OVERALL tried to retrieve his phone, he said, AB assaulted him again at which time he pushed her to defend himself. OVERALL denied ever getting physical with AB. AB was crying and visibly upset. She had blood running down the left side of her face and a laceration to her left ear. AB said she has been in a relationship with OVERALL for about 7 years and that they have a two year old child together.
AB said that they were hanging out at OVERALL’s sister’s house and she went to the car to retrieve her belongings. She and the sister argued. The sister hit her and went back inside the residence. AB then argued with OVERALL as she sat in the vehicle. OVERALL said he would kill her if she left him and then put his right hand against her neck and squeezed causing her to be unable to breathe. She said OVERALL strangled her for about 20-30 seconds. OVERALL then punched her in her head and chest multiple times and continued hitting her when she tried to escape to the park.
AB said she is afraid for her life, wants to leave OVERALL, but is afraid she will end up dead if she does. One witness, RC, told police he saw AB trying to get into the driver’s seat of a vehicle. OVERALL pushed her and punched her several times. When AB walked toward the park, OVERALL followed her and punched her several times. Another witness, PS, said he saw two females fighting. Then he saw the smaller female (AB) and OVERALL come into the park and OVERALL began throwing punches and elbows. Another witness, PH, had a phone video that he provided to police.
The video showed OVERALL standing at the driver's side of a vehicle with the door open and OVERALL appeared to be arguing with someone. OVERALL then shoved AB out of the driver's seat and into the road. As they exchanged words, OVERALL kept pushing AB. AB got away from OVERALL, but OVERALL ran after her, punched her in the head, and hit her in the head with his elbow. Then, when AB fell to the ground, OVERALL punched her in the side of the head.
