On October 30, 2025, officers responded to the report of an aggressive male behind a senior living center in St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival they met with an employee of the center who said there was a male in the woods nearby blaring music and yelling at people. The employee pointed out the male to officers, later identified as AYAT USAINOV [DOB REDACTED], Defendant. Upon speaking to the Defendant, officers learned that Defendant’s father lived at the center. When running checks on Defendant, officers located an active Order for Protection (OFP). At the time, they believed the order prohibited him from contact with his father. (It was later learned that the OFP was for the protection of a separate individual with a similar name.) So, when Defendant attempted to go inside the center, officers ordered him to stop.
They observed what they believed to be weapons in a bucket Defendant was carrying. Defendant ignored officer’s commands and continued trying to get inside the center. Officers then used physical force to stop Defendant from entering the building as they believed him to be attempting to violate the OFP. After a brief struggle, officers arrested him. Officers put Defendant in the back of their squad car and seat-belted him in. An officer reached over to do a final search of Defendant’s left side, and Defendant spit in the officer’s face.
The officer felt the spit hit his face and go into his right eye.
