On or about January 26, 2026, at approximately12:00pm, Inv. Hennen of the Rochester Police Department responded to the Olmsted County Law Enforcement Center on the report of a check forgery. Inv. Hennen met with an adult male (fully identified in relevant police reports - hereinafter “Complainant”). Complainant reported that his wife had mailed a check on 12/20/2025 to a company for medications. The original check was for $6.30. Complainant reported that the check was cashed on 12/30/2025 for $1600.00 and was written out to Misty Dawn Wenthold, [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter “Defendant”). Inv.
Hennen discovered that Defendant had been arrested and was being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail in Iowa. Defendant was taken into custody by Cerro Gordo County law enforcement on 01/06/2026. Inv. Hennen contacted Cerro Gordo County Jail and spoke to Defendant via phone. Defendant denied taking the check and forging the check. Inv. Hennen obtained a search warrant to Old National Bank, in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota, and received security video of the date and time the check was believed to have been cashed.
The video shows a female matching Defendant's description cashing what is believed to be the stolen check. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
