On April 12, 2026, officers were dispatched to a disturbance and robbery call at a store located on the 100th block of Grant Street West, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers observed a female, later identified as TAMIKA SHAWNTA GARDNER [DOB REDACTED], who matched the description of the suspect. GARDNER did not comply with commands to stop and an officer had to deploy a taser to take her into custody. GARDNER continued to refuse to comply, and she was displaying erratic behaviors.
An investigator spoke to the clerk at the store, an adult male identified herein as Victim. Victim stated that he saw GARDNER outside when he arrived to work that morning. When he opened the store, GARDNER came inside and was yelling about needing a cigarette. GARDNER then came behind the counter and opened the cash register. Victim [NAME REDACTED] from taking the cash. GARDNER was yelling that she had a knife. Victim picked up a machete to defend himself. They continued to fight, and GARDNER demanded a cigarette, which he gave to her to get her to leave.
GARDNER also took a drink from the cooler before leaving. Victim later found a small knife behind the counter, and he was not sure if it was from GARDNER, but he knew it was not his. The investigator reviewed surveillance video that corroborated Victim's account. GARDNER is currently in custody.
