On February 12, 2026, an investigator from the St. Cloud Police department was made aware that Victim A, fully identified in police reports, wanted to make a sexual assault report regarding Marquell Steven Goree, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. On February 23, 2026, the investigator met with Victim A at the St. Cloud Police Department. Victim A stated she met the defendant at the Salvation Army in September of 2015. Victim A stated the defendant portrayed himself as a born again Christian and carried around a bible.
Victim A became close with the defendant and indicated he was a protector at the Salvation Army. The defendant would make comments that he would not have sex with a girl until he was ready to marry her. Victim A indicated on one occasion the defendant had taken her to the mall to get a telemarketing job. The defendant pulled her into the bathroom and into a stall. The defendant pulled his penis out, pulled her pants down, and was trying to penetrate her vagina. Victim A told him "no" and "stop." Ultimately another person came into the bathroom and he let her go.
Based on the description, the investigator was able to ascertain this occurred at Midtown Square in the City of St. Cloud, County of Stearns. The victim stated on two other occasions the defendant got aggressive and made comments about having sex with her but he would let her go and apologize after. Victim A indicated the defendant at some point moved out of the shelter and got his own home. The residence was located on the 400 block of 31st Ave North in the City of St. Cloud, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota.
Victim A went to the defendant's house to spend time with him. Victim A stated she was on the phone with another male when the defendant came up behind her. After Victim A hung up the phone the defendant took her phone and broke it. Victim A stated she thought she was keeping track of the time but ended up missing her bus back to the shelter. Victim A indicated once you miss curfew you were not allowed back. Victim A did not know, but believed the defendant had changed the digital clocks at the house.
The curfew was a well known rule that the defendant would have known as well. Victim A stated the defendant's demeanor changed once she was stuck at his house. Victim A stated she was at the defendant's house for five days. The first day, the defendant did not do anything to Victim A. Victim A stated on the second night, the defendant penetrated her vagina with his penis, penetrated her anus with his penis, and made her orally stimulate his penis. The defendant continually made derogatory comments to Victim A during this incident.
Victim A described the defendant as much larger than her and described his behavior as very aggressive. After, the defendant told her she was gross and made her sleep on the basement floor. Victim A stated over the remaining time there, she was not allowed to use the bathroom or shower unless she left the door open and allowed him access to watch. Victim A stated she did not remember everything that happened during the five days but that she and the defendant never had a consensual romantic or sexual relationship and she did not consent to sexual penetration during the time frame of this offense.
