On April 18, 2026, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office detectives were contacted regarding an assault with a knife occurring at a group home on the 1100th block of Cheery Lane NE, Columbia Heights, Anoka County. The caller indicated a male was attacked and stabbed inside the home. Upon arrival, officers spoke with three individuals, B. L., J. P., and Alexey Alesha Pfannenstein [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Defendant and B. L. Were residents of the facility, while J. P. Was there visiting. Defendant stated he pushed open the door to B. L.’s room to apologize for an incident occurring the previous day.
Defendant said they got into a physical confrontation and B. L. Grabbed a folding knife. During the fight, B. L. Was accidentally stabbed in the right forearm. Defendant said he was also scratched during the incident and had a scratch on his hand and shoulder. B. L. Stated Defendant broke into his room after he wouldn’t let him in and attacked him with B. L.’s knife. Several items in B. L.’s room appeared broken and consistent with Defendant forcefully pushing the door open. B. L. Said he grabbed the knife off his dresser when Defendant came in but never opened it.
Defendant slammed him into the wall, threw him on his bed and jumped on top of him. Defendant got the knife and stabbed B. L. In the arm with it. B. L. Had a laceration on his right arm which required several stitches. J. P. Stated Defendant kicked the door in and broke several things as he did so. When Defendant came in, he started throwing and breaking other things. B. L. Grabbed a knife and told Defendant to leave. Defendant then tackled B. L., and J. P. Tried to pull him off as B. L. Yelled to call the police.
J. P. Got his phone and was chased down the hallway by Defendant and bitten. There was a visible bite mark on J. P.’s back. The knife was recovered on B. L.’s bed. Defendant has a prior conviction for Fourth Degree Assault from November 16, 2023, 02-CR-23-6094.
