On July 31, 2025, Savage Officer Brent Carkhuff responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business in Savage, Scott County, Minnesota. By the time he arrived, the suspect had left. Employees, three identified adult males, observed a man taking boxes that were being delivered to their business and on the sidewalk and putting them into his car, which was a Honda Accord. The employees confronted him and the male began taking the stolen boxes out of his car. The boxes contained the following equipment: ·One twin bagger 42” deck valued at $573.51 ·Two John Deere 42” mulch kits valued at $254.66 each ·One John Deere ride on mower frame valued at $301.52 The total value of the items the suspect attempted to steal was $1,500.29. The employees reported the suspect license plate and observed his vehicle to have a small spare tire on the rear driver’s side.
They shared surveillance video which showed the vehicle and the suspect clearly. The vehicle registered to Jose Angel Cazarez, [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Officer Carkhuff compared Defendant’s DVS photo to the male seen on surveillance video and was able to positively identify the suspect as Defendant. Officer Carkhuff responded to Defendant’s listed address. There was a tire on the deck off to the side with a Honda emblem. Defendant’s mother stated he left on Monday, July 28 without saying he was going.
He briefly returned on July 29 before leaving again. She did not know where he was or where he stays. She stated he has schizoaffective disorder and is not taking his medication. She stated the tire on the deck was from an incident with police Defendant had in Edina where his tire was popped. Defendant was not located.
