On April 30, 2026, at approximately 9:07 P.M., police responded to an apartment complex at 1XXX Snelling Avenue, Falcon Heights, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The caller reported that a female pointed a handgun at him and there were three children with them in the apartment. When police arrived, the caller, MLT, was in the lobby holding an infant. MLT told police that the suspect, ARIELL NIPREE GUY – [DOB redacted], was still in the apartment with their other two children and had been drinking alcohol.
MLT showed police a video of GUY pointing a gun at him. Police were familiar with GUY and MLT and noted that there was an extensive history of domestics between them. Police attempted to make contact with GUY, but she did not respond. Police were able to reach her on an iPad and told her to come outside. Eventually, GUY partially came into the hallway but would not comply with directives. Police attempted to deploy a less than lethal round at GUY, but she went back into the apartment and locked the door.
Police again tried to contact GUY on the iPad. Eventually, GUY came into the hallway with a small child and was detained. Police noted that GUY had an odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Police located a handgun with a round in the chamber in the couch tucked between the pillow and armrest. MLT told police that he often stays at the apartment with GUY and their three children. MLT reported that he and GUY were both drinking alcohol. MLT said the fire alarms went off, and he encouraged GUY and the children to evacuate.
However, MLT reported that GUY got upset and refused to leave. MLT said he left the apartment and went outside. MLT stated that GUY got upset and thought MLT was cheating on her while he was away. MLT said GUY continued to be upset, so he got upset and began packing his belongings. MLT reported that his infant started crying in the other room, so he went and picked up the child and returned to the kitchen. MLT said GUY went to the kitchen drawer, took out a firearm, and began loading the firearm with bullets.
MLT started recording GUY with the firearm, but he had to stop filming because the 911 dispatcher told him to leave the apartment for his safety. MLT said GUY has had the firearm for a few years and used to have a permit but can no longer carry it outside. The officer noted that MLT verbalized that he was depending on staying in a relationship with GUY because he did not think he could care for the children on his own. MLT described GUY as jealous and said she threatened him in the past. The investigator viewed the video recorded by MLT, which showed GUY walking around in the apartment carrying a box of ammunition.
GUY then loaded the magazine and tried to put the magazine in the gun. MLT can be seen holding their infant, who was born in March 2026. GUY waved the firearm around and pointed it in the direction of MLT and the baby. The other two children were also captured on video. At one point, GUY put the firearm under her arm while she was using her hands to do other things. GUY then pulled the firearm out again and put her finger on the trigger a couple of times. MLT called the investigator on the morning of May 1 and said that he wanted GUY to come back to the apartment and care for the children because they need her.
