On February 27, 2026, at approximately 5:00 P.M., Officer Jeffrey Eggert with the Waite Park Police Department was dispatched to a retail store located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in the city of Waite Park, county of Stearns, state of Minnesota. The store's loss prevention personnel reported that a male they knew to be DAVID ROY MERRITT, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein, had concealed items from the store and left without paying for them. Officer Eggert later learned that the defendant took two Leatherman tools, valued at $399.98, from the store without paying for them.
Officer Eggert arrived at the location and store employees notified him as to the direction that the defendant left the store. Officer Eggert located the defendant in the parking lot and placed him under arrest. Officer Eggert searched the defendant and located two bags of a substance he suspected was methamphetamine. Officer Eggert later weighed and tested the substance and determined that it contained methamphetamine and weighed 1.73 grams as measured with packaging. The officer also located two Leatherman tools in the defendant's possession.
Methamphetamine is a schedule II controlled substance. Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct. The above facts constitute your complainant's basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about February 27, 2026, in the city of Waite Park, county of Stearns, state of Minnesota, committed the offenses described herein.
