In court file ••-CR-••-••••, ZAYNE LARLY WHITE, [DOB REDACTED], was convicted of Violation of Controlled Substance Law in the Second Degree (felony) and Carry Pistol without Permit (gross misdemeanor), conviction date 9/23/2024. WHITE is prohibited from possessing firearms. On September 07, 2025, at approximately 11:55 P.M., Officer Goss conducted a traffic stop of a 2007 black BMW 335 at Dale Street North and Front Avenue, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, for observed swerving over solid white line and back.
The occupants of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts. Dorosh was the driver; WHITE was the front seat passenger; and Eckdahl was the rear seat passenger. A handgun-Girsan MC28 SA 9mm-was observed and recovered on the floor of the vehicle, behind WHITE. Dorosh spoke to an officer. He said the female in the vehicle is his wife and the male was an acquaintance. He was not aware of a firearm in the vehicle. Dorosh said he was not allowed to be around firearms as he was advised when he arrived in the country.
Dorosh denied a voluntary DNA sample. Dorosh said he may be aware of the firearm and may have touched it two weeks prior. Dorosh said WHITE showed him the firearm several weeks prior and he “admired” it. Dorosh did not know the firearm was in the vehicle. Dorosh described the firearm as having green on it. Eckdahl provided a voluntary DNA sample. When asked if she had a permit to carry a firearm, Eckdahl responded, “It’s not mine…my fingerprints will not be on it.” Eckdahl said the firearm would not belong to Dorosh as all of their firearms are locked away in storage.
Eckdahl said she did not see the firearm at any point during the night and did not know it was in the car. Eckdahl said she is the registered owner of the vehicle. Eckdahl said a fourth male was in the vehicle earlier. WHITE was arrested. At the LEC, after a Miranda advisory, WHITE spoke to an officer. WHITE said he was at a track meet where people with nice cars go. He was planning on going home when they were pulled over by officers. WHITE said he did not know who the firearm belonged to. WHITE denied touching the firearm.
The BCA Report on the Examination of Physical Evidence dated 11/30/2025 reported, 3 (swabbing from grip, magazine release, locks, etc.), interpreted as DNA mixture originating from four individuals. Mayor DNA profile matches WHITE, does not match Eckdahl or Dorosh. The probability of observing this DNA mixture is greater than 100 billion times more likely if White and three unknown, unrelated individuals are the source than if four unknown, unrelated individuals are the source. The statistical calculation supports the inclusion of Eckdahl to the DNA mixture.
The statistical calculation supports the exclusion of Dorosh to the DNA mixture. The BCA Report on the Examination of Physical Evidence dated 11/30/2025 reported Item 4 (muzzle), interpreted as DNA mixture from three individuals, major DNA profile matches WHITE, does not match Eckdahl or Dorosh. The probability of observing this DNA mixture is greater than 100 billion times more likely if WHITE and two unknown, unrelated individuals are the source than if three unknown, unrelated individuals are the source.
