On February 15, 2026 at approximately 8:31P.M., Wayzata police officers received information that a vehicle involved in a Fleeing from Police in a Motor Vehicle the day prior in Crystal MN, was near Central Ave., N. And Highway 12 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The vehicle was identified and police responded to the area to locate it. Police located the vehicle in the parking lot of a business at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East, and observed a driver, later identified as ALVIN MARCELLUS YOUNG [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.
Police exited their vehicle and began giving lawful commands to Defendant to exit the vehicle. Rather than complying, Defendant kept the vehicle running, left the lot and began to flee police. Police initiated a pursuit, with lights and sirens activated. The vehicle initially traveled the wrong way in an eastbound lane of traffic, and speeds during the pursuit fluctuated between 70mph-100mph. The vehicle stalled after hitting a patch of water and spinning out, and police were able to box it in, stopping the pursuit.
Police gave verbal commands to Defendant to exit the vehicle, which he did, but then he fled on foot. Police eventually caught him after a brief chase. Defendant was taken into custody. While being detained, Defendant told police that there was a lighter in his pocket and a half empty bottle of Tito’s vodka in the car. He told police he had not been drinking on this day, but that he was the prior night, which is why he fled from police then. There was a 16-year-old passenger in the car who was identified and released.
Defendant remains in custody.
