On May 15, 2026, at 3:31 P.M., State Troopers were dispatched to a gun pointing incident reported by JTF. JTF reported a White male, front seat passenger of a white Chevrolet Impala, temporary license 04749945, brandished a handgun at him during a road rage incident that occurred in the area of NB 1-35E and Maryland Avenue, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey. The Impala registered to KADEN EDMUND HILLQUIST, [DOB REDACTED], Wisconsin. HILLQUIST matched the suspect’s description. JTF said he was in the middle lane of NB I-35E near Maryland Avenue when the white Impala in front of him began to brake-check his vehicle.
JTF merged into the right lane to get around the Impala. The driver of the Impala held up her middle finger and motioned for him to pull over. JTF described the driver as a heavy-set Caucasian female, red hair, in her twenties or early thirties. JTF gestured his middle finger back to the driver and kept driving. The front seat passenger waved a black semi-automatic handgun at him. JTF thought the firearm could be a Glock 9mm or 40 caliber. JTF described the front seat passenger who waved the gun at him as a Caucasian male, twenties or early thirties, scruffy beard, and possibly brown or dirty blonde hair.
On May 18, 2026, Woodbury Officers located the Impala parked outside of Wal-Mart, Woodbury. Surveillance was established. HILLQUIST and BMP exited Wal-Mart and entered the Impala. HILLQUIST had a black cross draw satchel. HILLQUIST threw off the satchel when police made contact with him. HLLQUIST and BMP were detained. BMP spoke to a Trooper. She said HILLQUIST owns the Impala. She was the driver during the road rage incident. BMP remembered a road rage incident with a black pickup truck. BMP said the truck swerved at her on the freeway just before getting on Highway 36. She gave the other driver the finger.
There was a shotgun in the trunk that used to be her grandpa’s that she was going to give to her dad. BMP knows HILLQUIST has a real gun in the car that he bought in Wisconsin. BMP acknowledged HILLQUIST “might have” flashed the gun at the driver during the incident. After a Miranda advisory, HILLQUIST spoke to a Trooper. He said he owns the Impala. BMP is his girlfriend. He remembered a road rage incident with a black truck. BMP was driving. She cut the truck off and both drivers gave each other the finger.
HILLQUIST pulled out a red and orange PepperBall gun. HILLQUIST said the driver threw something at their vehicle. HILLQUIST admitted there are two guns currently in the Impala- a.22 handgun in the black satchel he was wearing and a shotgun. HILLQUIST said the shotgun was his and BMP’s dad gave it to him. HILLQUIST said the PepperBall gun is presently at his grandma’s house in the closet of his old bedroom in Somerset, Wisconsin. Later, Wisconsin Deputies searched HILLQUIST’s grandmother’s house and did not find a PepperBall gun.
