On November 19, 2025, law enforcement responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED] South on a report of a female being stabbed by her ex-husband. Call remarks noted that the known adult female, hereinafter Victim, [NAME REDACTED] from the shoulder. It was further reported that the suspect was identified by Victim as FUNSHO EMMANUEL LADIPO AKA DUNCAN HERBERT SMITH, hereinafter Defendant. Dispatch advised responding officers that Defendant had just left the property and what type of vehicle he left in. Responding officers located Victim on the balcony of her apartment with her 3 year old and 5 year old.
Victim was holding a towel to her shoulder. Victim's sweatshirt was saturated with blood. Victim reported coming home with her children, unlocking her apartment door, setting things on the floor, and then hearing the noise of someone running down the hallway. Victim [NAME REDACTED] attempted to close her door, but Defendant pushed his way into the apartment. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated he was going to kill her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at this time, Defendant grabbed her by her face, pressing in with his fingers and stated "I'll stab you to death.
You think you can just leave me? I'll kill you." Victim reported that Defendant took a knife out of the kitchen knife block and stabbed her in the shoulder. Victim was holding her 3 year old daughter in her arms when she was stabbed. Defendant told Victim he stabbed her there because "he wanted to watch her die slowly." A deep, 1-1.5 inch stab wound was observed to Victim's shoulder. A serrated knife was located with blood like substance approximately 3 inches up the blade. Victim reported Defendant took her phone and keys prior to leaving.
While Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the balcony, she observed Defendant's car enter the parking lot. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. A traffic stop was initiated and Defendant was placed under arrest. Victim's phone and keys were located on Defendant's person. Defendant's clothing appeared to have blood spatter on it and was collected as evidence. Victim was transported to the hospital by EMS where she received 9 stitches to close the wound to her shoulder. Defendant is prohibited from having contact with Victim pursuant to a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO). The DANCO between Defendant and Victim is a pre-trial DANCO issued and served on 9/3/25 in 27-CR- 25-19282. The DANCO prohibits Defendant from having any contact with Victim except for written communications to facilitate childcare and divorce proceedings.
Defendant does not live with Victim. Defendant was convicted of Threats of Violence on 4/12/17 in 19-HA-CR-16-4327. He is pending additional assault charges involving Victim in 27-CR-25-23602. Additional charges may be forthcoming. Defendant is currently in custody.
