At around 6:30 AM on June 7, 2026, officers were sent to the area of Laurel Avenue and Mackubin Street on a shooting. Someone was heard shouting, “Get out of my car!” Officers spoke to a witness who said a heavyset Black female wearing pink held a black handgun while arguing with others by a red SUV. The woman racked the gun’s slide and left on foot. The witness heard 1-2 shots but didn’t see the shooting occur. Officers found a shell casing, several live rounds, and blood spatter on the ground near [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County.
Officers arrested EBONY REGINA DOBBINS [DOB REDACTED] wearing pink clothing near Holly Avenue and Mackubin Street. Dobbins was with DD. Dobbins had a small spot of blood on her abdomen. Dobbins told officers she possibly had drugs in her purse. Dobbins’s pink purse was recovered – it contained a bag of suspected cocaine. Maverick, a police canine, searched the alley officers saw Dobbins emerge from. Maverick approached a set of three trash cans and investigated. Maverick stood up on his hind legs and sniffed the lid area with an audible change in breathing intensity and depth.
Maverick’s partner opened the trash can and saw a Taurus 9mm handgun on top of the trash inside. Maverick’s partner gave Maverick a toy to play with as a reward. The gun was about 100 yards from where Dobbins had been detained. The Taurus had a round of ammunition in its chamber and two additional rounds in its magazine. Officers found KMK-D [DOB REDACTED] in the driver’s seat of a red Ford Edge that registered to Dobbins at Marshall Avenue and Exeter Place. KMK-D had a gunshot wound to her right triceps and a gunshot wound to her ribcage just below her breasts.
Medics transported KMK-D to Regions Hospital, and she was rushed into surgery. DD later told police that she got a ride to work from Dobbins and KMK-D. DD said Dobbins and KMK-D have been together for about two years – DD thought the two women lived together. DD drove, Dobbins was in the front passenger seat, and KMK-D sat behind Dobbins. Dobbins and KMK-D argued, and it became heated. KMK-D reached forward and pushed Dobbins’s head twice. Dobbins told KMK-D to leave her alone. DD got out at her workplace and went inside.
DD looked outside and saw the two other women were still arguing. DD went outside and intervened telling the women they couldn’t argue in front of her workplace. DD got the others back in Dobbins’s car and began to drive away. KMK-D reached forward and punched Dobbins. DD pulled over to get the other women to stop fighting. Dobbins got out, opened KMK-D’s door, and told KMK-D to get out of Dobbins’s car. KMK-D got out and hit Dobbins again. Dobbins hit KMK-D back. The two women fought while leaning into the open backseat door.
DD offered to call an Uber for KMK-D, but KMK-D continued rushing toward Dobbins. While standing by the driver’s side door DD heard a gunshot. KMK-D fell bloodied to the ground; Dobbins held a handgun. KMK-D got up and tried hiding behind DD. Dobbins screamed at KMK-D and walked away. KMK-D got into the car and left. DD and Dobbins walked around the block together. Police stopped them a short time later. DD heard KMK-D threaten to beat Dobbins’s ass, but KMK-D did not threatened Dobbins’s life. Dobbins was advised of her constitutional rights and agreed to speak to officers.
